I joined Pershore Inner Wheel in 1996 and immediately felt the force of
Inner Wheel friendship. Amazing! I became Club President in
2003/4 and have just stepped down as Club Correspondent.
After a major wake-up call during a Rotary Conference in 2005, I found that I
had offered and, more surprisingly, been accepted to take on the
role of District 10’s Overseas Service Organiser. This was a
three year post that was both challenging and hugely enjoyable.
I was then elected to join the Association Overseas Service
Committee where I served for one year before being elected to
rejoin the District Committee as 2nd Vice Chairman.
I cannot believe how time has flown by and now I am looking forward to
the great honour and challenge of serving as your District
Chairman in our new Inner Wheel year. |

I joined the Inner Wheel Club of Clevedon in November 1998,
since when I have served on Committee and in the posts of
President (twice), Secretary (twice), Club Correspondent and
Overseas Service Organiser and am presently serving a second
term as Club Correspondent. Having also been the Club's Health
and Safety Officer, I look forward to taking on this role at
District level.
My two years as District Editor were full of enormous challenges
but were also immensely satisfying and I enjoyed working with my
fellow members on the Executive Committee and also watching our
District Website take form under the steady hand of our
webmaster.
I look forward to supporting DC Nicky in her year of office and
to working with her and her team to promote District 10 within
this wonderful organisation. |

I joined the Inner Wheel Club of the Royal Forest
of Dean in 1990, a couple of years after my husband, David, had
joined the Rotary Club.
I have served my Club as Treasurer and as President in 1995/96,
2001/02 and 2009/11. I would like to think I have helped our
Club to move forward in that 20 years or so.
I now look forward to joining the executive and the learning
curve which is bound to follow. |

I joined the Inner Wheel Club of Hereford Wye Valley in 1988.
Having first been a Committee member, I was later Club
Secretary, when I started producing our monthly Newsletter, and
was President in 2002-3. Since then I’ve had 2 years on the
Committee editing the Newsletter and organising Club outings,
and now I’m Club Correspondent.
I joined the District Executive in 2003 as Editor and really
enjoyed producing the District magazine for 3 years, which gave
me the opportunity to hear more about all the work done by our
Clubs.
My year as District Chairman has been an amazing and
unforgettable experience, and getting to know members better has
been a real joy. Membership of Inner Wheel and involvement with
District matters has enriched my life more than I could ever
have imagined and friendships made will last for ever. I will
do my best working to retain and extend IW membership in D10
this year, and am really looking forward to serving with DC
Nicky and her Executive team. |

Having joined The Inner Wheel Club of Gloucester whilst working I found it very difficult to attend all of the meetings but really enjoyed being a member.
On semi retirement I became Vice President 2004/2005 then President 2005/2006.
I enjoyed my three years as Club Secretary, and now is the time to advance to District.
Working with PDS Pam as Minute Secretary broke me gently into my new
role as District Secretary.
My very grateful thanks to Pam for
all her help in the last 18 months on the Executive I am now
looking forward to the honour of being District Secretary on the Executive of District
10 and you can be assured I will do the job to my very best
ability. |

My
husband joined Pershore Rotary Club in 1996 and
I was invited to join the IW Club of Pershore in
the same year. It did take several months
before I was able to make a fairly regular
commitment to the Club.
I soon became a
Committee member and then took on the role of
Club Overseas Service Organiser.
As that role came to a conclusion after 3 years,
I was invited to become Junior Vice-President. I
had a fantastic year as President in 2005-2006.
It was also the year we sold our business and I
retired - a year of great contrasts and mixed
emotions!
I have
been Pershore Inner Wheel Club Health and Safety Officer since
the inception of H&S officers within I. W. I had also
been, until July 2009, District 10 H&S Officer. I have
been District Treasurer for the past 2 years, a challenge I have
enjoyed. This will be my 3rd and
final year. There's even more to learn
this time round as it is Convention year.
Hotel and airfares priced in Euros, and working
out Foreign Exchanges!
Throughout my 14 years in Inner Wheel, I have
made many friends. The organisation has afforded
me so many privileges and now I have an
opportunity to 'give something back'. |

I was born and brought up
in the small Saxon hill top market town of
Shaftesbury in Dorset. Incidentally the cobbled
hill featured in the old ‘Yorkshire’ Hovis
advertisement was filmed in Shaftesbury! I left
home at the age of 18 years to go to the Royal
Masonic Hospital in London to train as the then
S.R.N. In 1966 I married my late husband Richard
and we moved to Windsor where I continued my
nursing career.
Richard’s career meant that we moved around the
south-east of England before his work took him
to Gloucester and then Worcester. In the
meantime I trained to become a School Nursing
Sister, a role I enjoyed. When we moved to
Worcester I stopped work because I had the
opportunity to be out and about with Richard.
Something I’ve not regretted.
Richard joined the
Rotary Club of Worcester Severn in 1984 and I
was a founder member of our Inner Wheel Club of
Worcester Severn back in 1985 and continue to
enjoy my club’s fun and friendship. I have been
President of my Club twice so I must have
enjoyed it! I thoroughly enjoyed my years as
District 10 Editor and then Chairman and all
that it has brought so far but most particularly
the fellowship of all the members of Inner Wheel
that I have met along the way. I look forward to
serving District 10 again as your Member of
Council and I hope to fulfil the role as well as
my predecessors. |

I joined Hereford Wye
Valley Inner Wheel Club 10 years ago, a few years
after my husband, Stewart, joined Rotary. I
have served on the club committee and also as
Club Overseas Service Organiser. I really enjoy
the friendship within Inner Wheel and the
sharing of ideas with those in other clubs,
which is helped by having lunches before our
District Meetings and gives an opportunity to
socialise.
As club Overseas
Service Organiser I found out about a range of
charities and the assistance they require. This
has also been helped by the fact that my husband
has served on and chaired various International
committees for Rotary and I have attended many
presentations showing how charities use their
funds and donated goods.
I look forward to working with
all the clubs, sharing their ideas for fund
raising and giving advice should the need arise. |

My husband Michael joined Newent & District
Rotary Club in 1986 and I was invited to join Inner Wheel soon
after, becoming a member in July 1987. Since going on the committee in 1988 I have served on it
for all but one year. I have been Club President three times, at 10 year
intervals, 1989-1990, 1999-2000 and 2009-2010, Club Secretary
three times, covering seven years, Overseas Service Organiser
and Club Correspondent, a position I am taking on again for
2011-12.
The friends I have made in Inner Wheel are
very special and I have enjoyed much fun, friendship and
laughter. Until recently I was in charge of our family business’s accounts, but
have recently taken a back seat, which gives me a little more
time to give to other pursuits and I look forward to taking on
the position of Minute Secretary to District 10 in July 2011. |
