Report by Eileen Gilbert, Overseas
Service Organiser
The Overseas
Service Rally had received much positive
feedback and was enjoyed by all who
attended. Special thanks must go to
Hereford Wye Valley Inner Wheel Club for
their help in organising the event,
particularly preparing and serving the
food and setting up and clearing up
afterwards.
Members were most
impressed by the cup cake flowers, made
by a member of the club, which were
raffled on each table and Eileen thought
that the concept may appear at other
club meetings - it was simple, but
effective and much admired.
Thanks must
also go to Rotarians who helped to set
up and man the audio/visual equipment
and the bar.
The guest speaker was Hugo Pike, from
the charity WorldWaterWorks, which is
organised and administered by Chelwood
Bridge Rotary Club and provide Water
Survival Boxes.
These boxes are sent all
over the world when clean water
emergencies arise and at a cost of £150,
provide a water filtering kit,
containers and basic cooking and
emergency survival equipment. They get
through customs quickly as each box is
identical, so are often the first help
to arrive.
The profit from the Rally will go to WorldWaterWorks.
As there was a good attendance with much
support for the raffles and stalls.
Clubs will be informed of the final
total raised as soon as all the bills
have been received.
Eileen, the Overseas Service
Organiser, would like to thank all who
attended for making it such an enjoyable
and profitable day out.
